Kathy and I would like to wish all classmates a very Merry Christmas and a healthy 2020. We are in Quartzsite, AZ as I write this (about 40 feet from HAL HILL) and will be moving onto BARBARA BUZBEE's territory in Palm Springs, CA on Monday. In about five weeks we will be moving closer but not to San Diego where MIKE TURNER lives. Is anyone else near any of these cities? When BILL LEGGETT goes off line in February, I will also be at an RV park in the desert, 20-miles from Mexico with virtually no cell phone coverage and no WiFi so you can imagine how much this site will be maintained. MARDI GONYEA NICKLIN will do her best. She is a trooper and the one that started this class site. This will be Kathy's and my first Christmas without children or grandchildren, but I guess Palm Springs will be an okay place to suffer. Actually, we have had our Christmas. Our son returned from deployment to the war zone Tuesday (see picture below). But I think of sweet KAREN McCARTY FINK, MARDI and other widows spending Christmas without their spouses; and I think of at least one classmate whose son is lost in drugs in Denver area. Kathy and I are very, very lucky. Our heroin and meth addicted son is 3 1/2 years sober and winning at life, work and love. God bless each and everyone in our class and their families.

Thank you for all you have done over the years!

HeyJim and everyone...So you two are nomads now? Well, you look swell. You've barely changed since I spent time with you in Vegas. Enjoy yourselves, I sort of envy you. Drop me an e-mail sometime.

To everyone...hope your Christmas and Holiday seasons are good. Here's the yearly picture of my gang. We have our first grandchild. It's fun!

Best to all...John Wolfe

Hello Classmates,

Just to tell everyone, Doreen Williams has a small stroke about 3 weeks ago.  She is in a rehab facility in Albuquerque.  Hoping to go home this coming Monday Dec 30.  She is gaining every day and is expected to make a full recovery, but it will be slow.  She also has a positive attitude, and working hard in PT.

Thank you KAREN MOORE WILSON for letting us know about DOREEN WILLIAMS' stroke. We are so sorry and wish DOREEN a full recovery. MARIANNE COONS McCULLOUGH has kept me up to date a little bit and I appreciate it very much. PAT SOLEMAN and his sister, MARY, made a last visit to GARY SOLEMAN shortly before he passd, which is wonderful.

We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, Happy Hunnukah or whatever, and thank you BILL LEGGETT for the Happy New Year background on the home page so promptly.

But I have to tell you, ole MARDI GONYEA NICKLIN, when talking about me, agrees with KAREN McCARTY FINK  by saying "Some people haven't changed since high school." Hmmmm, I wonder what they are talking about?

Wishing LOUIS BAGWELL a very Happy Birthday and a 2020 full of adventure and good health. Again, thank you for the lunch you paid for when we met with KAREN PATTERSON NICHOLS.  As most classmates know, I am goofy, a complete air head. December 2nd I called BOBBY ALLISON to wish him a Happy Birthday. Now, the class website shows his birthday as January 2nd. Hmmmm, some discrepency between my personal calendar and the one the website has where the classmate enters their own birth date.  Bobby is so nice, he did not tell me I was wrong to wish him Happy Birthday on 12/2.

Yesterday we were in lovely Santa Barbara. Today, we are back in Palm Springs for next 4-weeks, then onto an RV park near San Diego for 3 (weeks). Everyone, please drop us a note and let us know what you are up to. Have a safe New Years Eve and a fantastic and healthy 2020.

Glad you all are enjoying the RV lifetyle! It is great fun and most educational to travel the country. Where are you all staying in Palm Springs and San Diego? Patty and I stayed at the KOA in San Diego years ago. It is actually in Chula Vista, a couple of miles north of Tijuana. Very safe. Great mexican food in the town of Chula Vista. It was a very nice park then and assume it still is. Safe travels to you both and A Happy 2020. Pete and Patty

PALM SPRINGS UPDATE: So, what did Kathy and I do today? We were fortunate to be able to have breakfast with LINDA HENRY CROWDER's mother and sister, Brenda (Class of '71). Boy did we have a lot to talk about and if you knew Linda back in the day, you fully understand. It was so nice with Linda not being there to defend herself.

PETE GARTON, now that you have settled down, I hope life is treating you well. However, I still look to you for professional RV advice since you did the RV thing for a number of years all over the nation.

BILL LEGGETT, you can pick on me or my pictures anytime. Everyone in high school knows I was a complete jerk and may still be.

BARBARA BUZBEE, still in Palm Springs?  Would you like to meet with Kathy and me?

BOYCE McFARLAND, is it March when you go to Sweden? TERRY BOONE, tell us again when you are going to Peru. MARY HUSEMOLLER, let us know where in your triad (Durango, Reno, L.A. Oceanside) you are at and what trips do you and Bill have planned this year? LINDA HENRY CROWDER, are you going to stay in Ohio forever? Ever coming back home to Austin? The Broken Spoke misses you.

Happy Birthday today to our wonderful and talented BOBBY ALLISON. What a gift for music, writing and performing, he was given.

Jim W  <---leaving for a quick trip to Phoenix in a few minutes

(Maybe sometime I will make it over there when you all are there.)You all are so much fun! I'll be going back to Austin in another week. Hard to leave everyone up here! Never a dull moment! Love you!

I want to wish everyone a Happy, Happy 2020!

2019 was a great year getting settled from RV full timing in Athens, TX. Lots of work on our new home.
However, 2019 ended on a down note. Being an "elder person" (who was thinking of that 50 years ago?) is not easy health wise or for the faint of heart. Patty and I had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

On Thursday the 26th, I was light headed (to much egg nog I guess???) accompanied with heavy chest pressure (too much fried stuff maybe?). To the ER we go! On Saturday the 28th, after a chemical stress test, my LCA discovered to be 90% blocked. Another stent was placed within my original stent from 2009.

Home that afternoon at 6pm. Feeling much better. Oh yeah! Medical technology is great. For those who believe, our God is an awesome God and the Great Physician. I guess He didn't want me yet.

The best to all of you in 2020 !!!!!!! Stay healthy and get checked out.

Glad for your good health, Pete! Yes, those senior years never seemed meant for us. I suppose they never do. ;)

Pete,

I am glad that you are better.  Take care and stay away from the eggnog- just call me and I'll drink it for you (It is my favorite thing about Christmas).

I believe same as you  guys , I never thought that I would live long enough to have all these medical problems. I have a theory about me, I think the doctors have been slowly using my body for spare parts- I have so many missing parts that I am sure there is an identical me somewhere.devil

Hppy New Year everyone,Debbie

Good to hear from you, Pete! Despite the health concerns it sounds like life is treating you well.  Happy New Year!

My apologies for the class website going down. My credit card that was on file to renew the internet name had expired. I have renewed the site for 2-years so we should be safe that long. We actually pay a couple fees; the internet name - www.roswellhigh-goddardhigh-nm-1966.com - just renewed, and the larger fee for hosting the website and storage space for pictures and more. We are okay for now. Do not worry.

Graveside funeral services for MARGARET ELIZABETH NICHOLS KUENZLER will be this Thursday, January 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at the "Old Section" of the Carlsbad Cemetery (Carlsbad, NM).  Rex Holt of Clovis, NM will officiate, assisted by Kevin Pence, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church of Carlsbad. There is no visitation scheduled. Hopefully some classmates can make it and show respect to her family and our love for Margaret.
