Jack and I were good friends at Edgewood Elementary. At age 10, I would ride my older brother's scooter out to Box Welding east of town. We did not see much of each other after I moved to the west side of town but we would say "hi" whenever we crossed paths. We did visit a little at reunions. Once, when I was trying to update the list, I tracked Jack down to Ruidoso and called him. He said, "Jim, I cannot believe we have not talked for 15 years and then you call me on my honeymoon!" Yes, he had just remarried and was celebrating. Of course, he did not really mind. He was just trying to get my goat.
Jack liked staying in touch with classmates. He was a truck driver and we met a couple times here in the Seattle area when he came. I think he also looked up Wally Reynolds one or two times too. Rest in peace, Jack.

Jack and I first met at Edgewood Elementary and reconnected at Jr. High. Remember your first car? Well Jacks was a 1956 Ford 2 door station wagon that he always wanted to upgrade to a 390 or 428 big block, and of course beat the muscle cars of the day. Remembering our RHS - GHS bonfires for homecoming reminds me of the contest (always) to see which school could build the biggest one, of course. Ours one year was lacking "fuel" and we all laughed ourselves sick when Jack showed up with multiple items, especially appropriated "out houses" for fuel for the bonfire!! What a hoot.
Jack would always try to stop by our shop when he was in Albuquerque to say Hi, catch up, and maybe introduce a friend who might be going to the VA hospital with Jack. Jack was a considerate and good friend and always accepted you as you were.
Jack, being a truck driver and gone a lot, was always worried about his family and how they were growing up. He loved his children dearly and always tried to put them first. We miss you and your huge laughter Jack. But we will meet again.

Butch was a good friend. He is very much missed. He attended his dad's funeral and two weeks later Butch passed away. We will never forget you Jack "Butch" Box. We shall meet again.

Jack Box and Shirley Tyner were married a long time before they divorced. Although they were not friendly at the end, they passed away the same year and I hope are up in Heaven hugging right now.

Jack was a good person and help me as I was moving In 2012. He was always willing to help and always a gentleman.
At the last reunion he and I were discussing people he thought I should remember from school, and I didn't. I told him I have such a bad memory that I don't remember who I went to GHS home coming dance with, (even though no one to come home for our first year) He told me it was him. I was so embarrassed, even knowing now that I went with him I don't remember. Just remember my embarrassment of putting my foot in my mouth.
I was always so amazed at the people, dates and places that a he could tell me about. It was like the person or the event had happened the day before. The history of Roswell, he knew everyone and every place. (I just wish I could remember the day before.) Jack introduced my to his aunt who helped me find some of my dads genealogy, which was wonderful to learn some of that history. Jack and I had a lot of good conversations over the last year of his life. Funny man, full of life!
Jack and Shirley were two characters, I hope they both find peace in heaven. As we all know, heaven will not be dull with those two there!

Jack and Shirley were both good freinds. I miss them both and I am sad they are not here for our 50-Year reunion. It is sad they were not together at then end but like the other person said, they are probably together now.
