Ronald M. 'Ron" Coggin

Ronald M. “Ron” Coggin, 73, of Norris Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away January 30, 2022 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, February 4, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Howell Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Ron was born November 10, 1948 in Roswell, NM to Bob and Elizabeth (Smallwood) Coggin. He graduated in the first class of Goddard High School in 1966.  Ron worked with his parents in the family laundry business, trucking company and Holsom Baking Co.  He moved to Carlsbad in 1989 with Rainbo Bread. Ron later worked for Frito-Lay Co. for 10 years.  He married Joanne Gonzales December 19, 1992 in Artesia.  Ron more recently was self-employed as a truck driver until retiring in 2007.  He loved talking about semi-trucks and watching NFL football.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law: Ramon and Tillie “Babe” Ramos.

Survivors are his wife, Joanne Coggin; children: Patti Fairhurst and husband, Scott, Robert Grey Coggin, Ronny Coggin and wife, Billie, Michelle C. Dominguez and husband, Joseph, David Ceballos, Billy G. Coggin, Armando Ceballos and wife, Renee, Phillip Coggin and wife, Mickey, Mario Coggin and girlfriend Alisa Ramirez and MiaCecilia Coggin and boyfriend Rogelio Ibarra; 24 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Grey Coggin, Ronny Coggin, David Ceballos, Billy G. Coggin, Armando Ceballos, Mario Coggin, Phillip Coggin and Robert Coggin.  Honorary pallbearers are Patti Fairhurst, Michelle C. Dominguez and MiaCecilia Coggin.

I'm glad I got in touch with Ron before the class reunion. He told me at that time he had been on oxygen 24/7 and would not be able to come to the reunion. I remember him as a very sweet and kind man. Rest in heavenly peace dear Ron. You've gained your wings. Fly high dear friend.
