DANIEL LESTON DANIEL - May 12, 1948 - September 8, 2020 - a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) from Colorado Springs, CO passed away from ALS. Danny is survived by his wife, Eleanor, and three children he was so very proud of. He loved growing up in Roswell and loved meeting old friends from there.
I met Danny at age 10 in little league. He and I were on the same VFW team with Tearil Hefner and Cliff Sanders. Though not really close as far as hanging out together (GHS vs. RHS), we did manage to meet and talk over the years. He even came to the Winery I am always talking about. Loving adventure, a few years ago Dan was navigator in a cross country run with the president of Ferrari America. Dan drove the car at over 170 mph on U.S. highways. The Ferrari president topped over 200 mph while Dan was in the car navigating for him. When Kathy and I passed through Colorado Springs, Dan and Eleanor met us a time or two for a long lunch. I spoke with Danny a few weeks ago. Actually, I spoke through Eleanor since Danny could not speak at that time. He said, "Don't worry about me. I have lived a good life with a good woman and we have three wonderful and responsible children." Rest in Peace, Danny, enjoy your new legs and thank you for being my friend.
Thank you for the beautiful memories about Dan, Jim. I did not know him well during high school, but reconnected with him and other classmates since this website has been set up. It has been fun reading about his exploits especially driving in the race car. As a recent widow myself, my thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Eleanor and his children. May Dan Rest In Peace. You will be missed Dan.

Awwww, so sad. I had no idea! Seems like we were just reading about him in that race. RIP, Dan.
