With great sadness we report the October 17, 2008 passing of one of the funniest and most vibrant ladies in our class, PATRICIA ANN "PATTI" LACKEY-WALDRIP. We have confirmed she passed from cancer but cannot locate an obituary at this time. Special thanks to Karen Harrington Ream who tracked down the link to Patti's death.
Patti has lived in Sacramento for more than two decades. She was divorced from her husband, a surgeon in Arizona and they had one son, Jim. Patti was a school teacher and administrator and most recently, was a principal at a school that served special needs children.
Patti was so funny. One would laugh with her any time you spoke with Patti. My last laughs with Patti was at the Albuquerque Airport in 2006. Many will miss her. We will keep seeking a picture and information about her life and her passing. An angel gone way too early. You will be sorely missed, Patti.

Patti lived 3 doors down from me, and we walked to school together about every day. Our Dad's were both Air Force pilots and we loved the cadets at NMMI, so we had a lot in common. In later years I visited several times with Patti in Arizona and California. She told me many times that big love of her life was Billy Fredrick. Guess that was no big secret. .. We both moved several times and it was about 2007 that I lost contact with her. I certainly regret now,not keeping our friendship up. She would call me from time to time and just want to talk about "the good old days". She sent my husband a book about the p-61 Night Fighter pilots in World War II. Her Dad flew them in the Pacific. I have a lot of good memories of Patti. Too young to be gone.Sharon Wishard (Christian)

Hi all,
I just spoke with Patti's ex husband and he told me she died of cancer in 2008. Her parents were with her. Her son Jim lives in Phoenix and has grown up to be a super young man.
Guess they lived all over the USA and Mexico, during their marriage. She had her Masters in Special Ed.

It was such a delight to work with her on the class play. She lit up the room with her smile.
