Thank you, BILL MARTIN ... and thanks to HANK GARRETT. As it turned out, I read Bill's message about an hour before the Mars Landing. Kathy and I were thrilled to watch it. Bonnie King, Chip King's widow, and I were texting back and forth. She was so excited and said Charlie (alias "Chip") would be thrilled since he was involved with NASA computers on so many space shots. Again, thanks for the heads up guys.

Although I'm retired I am "emeritus" and get to take part in all the JPL events.  I didn't work directly on Mars 2020 but I've been watching it being built.  I was asked to help figure out how to get it's samples back to Earth without the possibility of Mars to Earth contamination--we haven't quite figured it out yet!  I have attached our "official Mars passport" and a Mars customs stamp for any of your younger relatives.  Hope it transfers okay.  If anyone has any questions you can e-mail me at henry.b.garrett@jpl.nasa.gov

Hank - Thank you. That is a very gracious offer, and I passed it along to my grandson & to a colleague who is a space afficianado. (sp?)  What you said about the 11 minutes - then it was really more than 7 minutes of anxiety at NASA, since you all knew the result was already in and the waiting was probably even worse than for those of us blissfully ignorant!

And Bill - I too loved the biology dept.  Mr. Luginbill, I think it was, and then another whose name I'm unsure of (could have been at GHS). I don't remember if I took physics in high school, but I passed it in college only thru the tutoring of my then fiance, a physics major.  And in college I got my only D in chemistry . . . those things will definitely steer you!  I forgot the bio major and took the invitation to the music department!

Jim - so glad you looked up Betty Bacon Petkovich!  She is such a sweet and lovely person. She was very close to Carolyn Loveless, who died in December 2013.  I have a photo of Betty, Carolyn, Pat Scott West, Marilyn Miller Michael, Molly Orr Crockett, and me at one of the reunions.  I don't know how to attach or submit it, but I could email it to you.  Not sure if I have your address anymore.

Peace out, y'all!

Robin.

Hello all,  I know not everyone can agree on a date for the reunion, but I need to get venues reserved soon.  I’m asking for some input on which of the following dates would work best for the people planning come to the reunion.  The dates are September 17-18th or October 15-16th.  Please let me know you opinion soon.  I also would like to know if two nights of happy hour will work or if you prefer having one night happy hour and the second night trying to have more such as a band and dinner.  Keep in mind we don’t have much money in our fund.  Let me know soon as I can reserve the venues.  Thanks, Marianne Coons McCullough

I would vote for Oct dates and maybe two nights of happy hr as I'm not sure of attendance by others so having to spring for a band for maybe a small group wouldn't be the best decision.

I prefer October with two nights of happy hours.  I work at a college and it  is much easier for me to leave later in the semester....and, at this point in our lives, I would rather have as much time as possible to just visit with each other.

Oct dates with 2 happy hrs.

I'd agree with Happy Hours evenings for the entire month of October, with two nights in Roswell.

If I am lucky enought to be at the Reunion, October would be great!!  No dinner as that tends to keep people in groups!

Laura Anne Knight (Atkins)

I prefer the October dates. I'd be happy to contribute more to the reunion for food, etc. I have a huge collection of music from our youth on an ipod--old school I know-- that I can bring if we don't have a band.

I vote for late October.

October with two happy hours would work for us.  I will be happy to help as much as I can from Nebraska.  Will send another contribution when I can.

The October 15th and 16th dates will work well for us. I understand the 2 Happy Hour events but I have a preference for at least one venue with lots of tables and chairs in a large well lit room so we can all see, mingle, talk, and hear. A secondary idea is a early afternoon park venue if we can locate a large number of folding chairs. A meal is not essential but beverages from water, teas, and adult would be very welcome. I don't see many band recommendations but I thorioughly enjoyed Jerry Robbins' trio and so many of us crowding the dance floor at the 50th.

I saw a somewhat familiar senior citizen walking in the store the other day. Then I realized I went to school with him!

I wouldn't be able to come in September as I have a wedding that weekend I have to attend, but the October dates would be great.  And..... the weather should be great.  If you need a donation for anything.... surely you will..... please let me know.  Would love to contribute.

Happy Birthday to our NM High School Coaches Hall of Fame member (Girls basketball coach), I think (but my memory could be failing me), DWAYNE KIBBE. Since Dwayne is NOT on our class website, will those of you on Facebook with Dwayne, will you tell him he is missed?

We liked the September date better, but if everyone likes October, we'll find a way to make it work.

I had my second Pfizer vaccination three weeks ago, so I'm now free at last to "kick up my heels" or to "let the good times roll" on my scooter, depending on the availabiity of surgical procedures in a time of pandemic. I loved the musicians that  performed at the last two reunions, but having the recorded music as we remember it would give us the options of socializing to background music or of blasting our hearing aides to dance to the beat. We could even nominate our favorite tunes for dancing.

I would prefer October and two happy hours. But then, I plan to be there regardless of dates or venue. I'm looking forward to seeing those who can attend and catching up. I do hope, Marianne, you will be putting out a list of things those of us outside of Roswell can do to help. I'm close enough to get into Roswell with a little notice if you need some on-site help. Please let me know. I do want to participate.

Hey, Laurie Anne, I just got my second and final Pfizer vaccination.  So, with that done, we are ready to move to Rosarito, Mexico on April 16 (so my CPA wife will have all her client's tax returns done).  I am so very glad to be moving there.  It maybe the only heaven that I will ever see.  But it is a good one.  Here is a pic of our condo and also one of the sunsets that I took while we were there last November 2020 and that hope to see almost every night.  We are on the 4th floor, second from the right.  All this and we are only 55 miles from San Diego.  Come see us, but wait a couple of months while we get settled.
