IN MEMORY

Georgia Ann Boteler

Georgia Ann Boteler

Georgia (34) was looking forward to going on a picnic with her family, when she was shot to death in her home, along with her young son Scotty (11), her mother Earline Barker (55), and her boyfriend, Bruce Gardner. Their murderer,Larry Keith Robison, also murdered his roommate, Rickey Bryant. The case gained national attention in the media because Robison's defense was that he was mentally ill due to his drug use. However, the murderer was convicted, received the death penalty and was executed.

Rodney Westenbarger and I may have been the last classmates to see Georgia. That was late summer of 1966 in San Pedro, CA where Georgia had move, eventually married and had a son. She later divorced and moved to Lake Worth (Fort Worth) area where she was murdered. Georgia is buried at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum

We only had a few dates before Georgia determined, rightfully, she was more emotionally mature than me. She was attractive, sexy, very tanned and spoke French. I enjoyed Georgia a lot and grieve over the way she and her family's lives were lost. RIP my French speaking friend.

I didn't know Georgia but her story highlights how many of our friends and classmates have met tragic and unnecessary deaths.  I have worked with criminals, including murderers, for 17 years and to this day I still don't understand. When someone of your own group is the victim, it makes it harder to think about because it becomes personal. I grieve with the families.

What a horrible and tragic story.  I didn't know her but I just hurts my heart to think about how some "people" have minds that most of us can't even comprehend......you just can't even imagine how twisted they are inside to do the deeds they commit.......and WHY???

I had several classes with Georgia.  I liked her a lot.  She was always interesting,

a little more mature than I was, but we were good "classroom" friends.  So sorry to

hear about this tragic death.  How scared she must have been!

I will go to the cemetery and leave flowers on her grave next week.  I had forgotten this story, But had heard it because it was the same timing as my folks deaths and I was in Albuquerque a lot that year. I don't remember Georgia but I do remember her skin and demeanor, lovely.

I can't even begin to express how sad I feel.  What a needless, horrible loss, 3 generations probably within seconds.

I will never forget the day she invited me to her home to visit after we had met while dating at the Institute.  She confided in me about the fellow she was dating as she rested in bed and I was sitting next to her.  She was a vibrant young lady with what I thought at the time, was her whole life in front of her just waiting to explore the world for years to come, but that was cut short in the most horrible way, not to mention the lives of her young son and mother.  I just don't get it, there is too much evil out there, probably because of lots of drugs.

We love you Georgann (that's what she asked me to call her) and we will be thinking of you while we are meeting and greeting our fellow classmates.  You rocked during your brief time on earth. RIP with your son and your mom.
