Yes, I know, a gentleman should never kiss and tell but you really have to hear this story.

Had to be 7th Grade, South Jr. High. Luanna asked me to be her escort to a dance (Rainbow Girls?)  We “doubled” with Jimmy Gill and either Nancy Traylor or Patricia Dull (I apologize ladies my attention was elsewhere).  When I walked Luanna to her door, my suave and debonair behavior for the evening was rewarded with a light kiss on the cheek.. The real meaning was probably “Thank you Billy for stepping on my toes only 5 times rather than 10 times.”  When I walked in my front door my mother and father were still up waiting for me.  My father immediately asked “What’s that red on your face?”  My hand immediately shot to my face to rub it off.  Of course, the only red in my cheeks was from embarrassment.  Thank you Luanna and Dad for a hard imprinted “first kiss.”

During my short stay at New Mexico State , our paths would occasionally cross.  I was always rewarded with Luanna’s bright, infectious smile.  My day was immediately GREAT!

I will always remember.  Bill

Luanna and I were BFF's through junior and senior high.  We lived in the same neighborhood and were always together at each other's house, the pool and dragging Main Street.  She was an amazing writer and wrote some of the funniest stories while she was the newspaper editor at Roswell High.  We lost touch after we both graduated from NMSU but reconnected at the 40th reunion.  She was living in San Antonio and I was in Grapevine, TX so we planned a girls weekend in Salado to talk and figure out why it took so long to reconnect.  We had a wonderful time talking about what we had been doing for all those years.  She had a hard fight with breast cancer but recovered with her typical funny outlook.  She died suddenly 2 days later and I was shocked because she was so happy and healthy at that time.  I am so thankful that I had that final great time with my BFF "Blue".

Luanna was so sweet and so was her mom, I believe, a RHS secretary.
