James A "Jim" White
It will be a very Merry Christmas but we must remember our classmate friends who are not as able to be joyous as many of us. Sure, all of have aches and pains but some of our close classmate friends are in a real crisis this holiday season.
- One classmate and his spouse has determined “No more treatment” for Stage-4 cancer. No more poking, prodding, sticking or testing. As they said, “We have turned it over to God, in whose hands it has been in all these many months.”
- Another classmate who loves this class so much, she drove from D/FW to Roswell to knock on doors and find missing classmates prior to the 40-year reunion. She has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and the struggle has begun; although she still remembers, as she told my wife, her parents warned her to “Never date Jim White.” Do you blame them? I don't.
- I spoke with Ellen Stanley this week and she lost her youngest son to an asthma attack this year.
- Another classmate lost his son to addiction seven years ago in Denver and has not seen or heard from him since.
- Another classmate gave all her savings and retirement money to family to help them, and none have even made an attempt to repay so you can imagine that classmate’s struggle.
- One classmate who dearly loves the people of this class is fighting two battles: congestive heart failure herself and effects of Agent Orange on her husband who is in convalescent care.
- Another classmate has Lyme’s disease and is in constant joint pain - constant!
- Another has neurological disease and even the wind touching her face can be extremely painful.
- Another very entertaining friend has just been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and the disease has turned his life upside down..
Sorry – I apologize - Mardi and I would like to have sent out a more positive and cheery message this holiday season. I guess we worry about our childhood friends and hope you are keeping them in your thoughts and prayers too. We can all support each other.
Meanwhile, Kathy and I are with our Air Force son in Kansas for Christmas and Mardi making her south Texas retirement village laugh. May you and your families receive many blessings this Christmas and into 2019.
Kindest regards,
Jim White / Mardi Gonyea-Nicklin & Bill

Of course, just like our 48 year marriage, Kathy is the pilot of this mission and I am lucky to be co-pilot.

Fortunately, we had an "in" with one of Santa's Wingman, Bailey (age 3).

As Santa is drops out of the plane he introduces himself to Maddy (age 9) and Cooper (age 5).
