James A "Jim" White
LONG MESSAGE: Gayle Moore Diorio - Rick Marcum - others (Jim White's usual positive message ... yeah, right):

Like many of our classmates, Gayle Moore Diorio is feeling mortality. This feeling is not limited to those with serious diagnosis, but some just not feeling well. Judi Adams Morris and I had a discussion one time about life maps. Our children see their life maps being at the furthest edge of our continent, maybe more, while we see our life line at the county line, maybe the city line, and some just down the street. Before I post Gayle's Facebook posting, allow me to tell a story about my grandparents.
My grandfather had been in fairly poor health but at the time was at home sitting on the couch watching TV with his wife of 66 years. He turned to her and said, "Juanita, I am dying." She replied, "Oh no you're not" but he just closed his eyes and was gone. Most people are wrong but some know.
Below is a copy of Gayle's Facebook post. I tried to reach her by phone but could not so am reposting without formal, specific permission. However, a number of our loving classmates have reached out to Gayle. Thank you Peggy Ware Koger, Mardi Gonyea Nicklin, Donnia Gouge Brooks, Karen Harrington Ream, Mary Sue Gaines DePass, Debbie McCarty Brigadier, Lynn Harris, Robin Lostetter and Janet Lee Barton (names that I recognized) for showing the love our class has for high school friends. Gayle's early story: As a young lady with a hot bod, Gayle was once tanning on the beach on So. Padre Island when a pickup driving on the beach ran over her. Being a friend of Gayle's I can vouch she has had enough illness and injuries during her lifetime it is amazing she is still with us and, hopefully, will be for some time.
Gayle Moore Diorio's 9-28-2020 Facebook post:
"I'm slowly dying, have had stomach parasites for approximately 2-1/2 years now. I stay in bed about 12 to 14 hours a day and eating is a huge problem, never know what to eat because my stomach hurts terribly no matter what I try to ingest. Just made an appointment with Dr. Raza and it didn't bother the receptionist when I told her I am slowly dying. Oh well, everybody dies sometime. My last treatment for stomach parasites was maybe over 2 years ago and the medication cost me over $300 which is the reason I have decided to self treat which obviously is not working. Would like to be on Facebook like all you bright stars, but just don't feel up to it. The only bright spots in my life right now are my sister Janet, who is very attentive, my friend Suki, who has been in a wheelchair for very many years, my new friend Hildegard, who is 86 and extremely active and who buys a chicken for 8 of her neighbors every Friday and has just added Suki and myself to the list. Her daughter died recently and she is devastated that her daughter left this earth before she did. She sets aside a bit of time each day to cry for her recently lost daughter and she just doesn't understand why her daughter left this earth before she did. Her daughter actually died in her arms. So sad. Wish I had better news and more fun stuff to talk about. Maybe things will look up soon once I get more treatment for my stomach, got an appointment this coming Tuesday. God bless all you friends and young and old souls stuck in your homes during this strange era of the covid virus. Love you all and take care the best you can."
CHANGING SUBJECTS:
RICK MARCUM has offered his novels "free" for online delivery, or you can purchase a hard copy. I finished West Texas Crude and few months ago and never commented. I was in northern New Mexico at the time and as I was reading in Rick's novel about certain statutes in Santa Fe, (disgusting) people (in my mind) were trying to tear them down. I have not started on Rick's first novel but will start soon, maybe after I get to Texas. Most of all, I hope the screenplay Rick is writing based on West Texas Crude gets picked up by Netflex or someone else. I would love to see it on the screen.
HEADING SOUTH:

After visiting with our brand new granddaughter, Ivy Lyn, (can you believe that hair on a newborn?), Kathy and I will be heading south for the winter. We were to leave Washington state today but when they pulled tires off our 5th-wheel that we were replacing, they found major problems and broken parts on our leaf springs. So we will be leaving Washington tomorrow (9/29 - debate day) having failed to see JAMES BAIRD, M.D. while we were in WA (I hate that). We may or may not see RODNEY and MYRA (BARNES) WESTENBARGER as we pass through Idaho. We will zoom past Utah and Colorado as we go to our port in the storm, Wines of the San Juan in NW New Mexico, for a short while. Then to/thru Albuqueque where, sadly, JERRY ROBBINS will not be performing as far as I can find out. Then around Oct 17-18, to MARIANNE COONS McCULLOUGH, PAM BERRY DAVIS and many others territory, Roswell. Hopefully, between Oct 21-24 we will be able to catch up with TERRY BOONE for a short visit. From Oct 27-Nov 15, we will be at Lake Conroe (North Houston area) and, hopefully, we can catch up with BOB and KAREN HARRINGTON REAM and many others, IF we can do it safely. November 17th through the end of the year, we will be on Galveston Island and hopefully connect with HERKY VEACH, LOUIS BAGWELL, BARBY MITCHELL and JOHNNY ALLEN.
Please remember, if your contact information changes (address, phone, spouse, etc.), please update your profile on the website, as KAREN MOORE WILSON just did. While you are at it, notify your kin or whomever how to contact us if the need arises. The only reason we know about DAN DANIELS passing is my recent contact with his family members and his son notified my niece. WALLY REYNOLDS, we are still thinking about you and your loss. We have not forgotten and if you want to talk with someone who has lost their spouse, I'd suggest KAREN McCARTY FINK (and there are others).
Blessings to everyone.
