John De Los Santos, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 4, 2016, in Albuquerque with his loving wife Sylvia by his side. He has 8 brothers, 2 sisters and was preceded in death by his father Eulalio “Lalo” De Los Santos, his mother Sipriana “Sippie” De Los Santos, his brother Ruben De Los Santos, and his nephew Chris “Bud” De Los Santos. John had four sons; Matthew De Los Santos, wife Janine; Joseph De Los Santos, wife Pam; Thomas De Los Santos, wife Bertha; and Mark De Los Santos, wife Geneva. He was known as a great warrior and a three-time NM State Golden Glove Boxing Champion with the most destructive left hook, whatever he hit he destroyed. John owned the blueprint to that punch that paralyzed many opponents and had an amateur boxing record of 57 wins, 7 losses and 52 by knockout. John was inducted into the NM Boxing Hall of Fame in 2009, where his name will remain immortalized forever. John became a car salesman for the Chevrolet Dealership for 25 years, where he not only sold vehicles but also ministered to all those in need, this then led John into another chapter in his life. John’s passion and love for the Lord led him into full-time ministry. He was a Pastor and an Evangelist going to over 45 nations, many of them five times or more. He made many sacrifices to make sure that others learned and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. John loved not only his family but all those he came to know through his ministry that God gave him. He will be greatly missed by many. I would like to thank Bill Clem from one of our sister-sites, for providing us with the thoughtful words and letting us know of another classmate who has passed not only at a particularly sad time during the holidays but way too soon. John not only had a large amazing family, he raised an amazing family. To add to that, the events he accomplished throughout his life, he filled them with the greatest style and class. John and Richard were both very popular. I remember in jr. high, I sat across from Richard. Like many girls, I thought both the brothers were very handsome. Richard set behind me. I remember one particular time, another friend, Pat Soloment, nudged me and said, "Richard wants to ask you for a date." I gave it some thought as to how I wanted to respond. I told him to tell Richard that my family wouldn't let me go out on dates. In truth, if I dated, I would have to do it while at one of my girlfriend sleep-overs. I used to get so mad a my sister, for tattling on me. I am sure there were many of those similar stories. I am so proud to know that John had a big life and accomplished dreams that many had but weren't able to accomplish. I send prayer blessings to his family.

Johnny was one of the friendliest people I knew in Roswell.  He was one tough little cookie.  When he and I would have contact on the football field, he would always ask, "Hey, Rick...is this how they hit in Texas football.  He and Rene Anaya were all ways giving me shit...friendly shit.  I loved them both.  The world is a little bit less today for me, knowing both of these amazing two guys are gone.  Whenever I think of either of them, I always get a great big smile on my face.

I knew John and his brother Richard in elementary school. I left Roswell at 20 years of age, so lost track of them and many others. My youngest brother told me John was a good man. So very sad, still young. I pray his family peace of mind. RIP John.

Coach Waldrop's nickname for John was "nariz".  Our football team went for a week before the start of our senior season to "camp spare time" somewhere up in the mountains.  John brought bottles of jalepena peppers on the bus which resulted in fire on the mountain.  Smitty Smith and Rick Marcum  should remember the four a days at Camp Sparetime.  I have very fond memories of John, my best to his family.

It was pure joy to provide John with parking at the ABQ airport for his mission trips! Heaven is rejoicing over this man of the Lord. Peace and comfort to his family. Tender blessings, Lois Lorentzen
